Went through Emissions today....
Just thought I'd post this, if my scanner wasn't a piece of shit I'd scan the report.
My 87 supra weighs 3665 with nobody in it, no spare tire, a 60pc Husky pro tool set and a quarter tank of gas. Emissions test results: HC (ppm) emissions 66; Limit is 167 CO (%) emissions .17; Limit .53 NOx (ppm) emissions 161; Limit 1167 This test was conducted in CT. Already ordered my 3" test pipe and 3" stainless catback $670 total shipped. Just have to decide which downpipe to buy. I want one with a flex section and one that deletes the stock turbine elbow. But HKS is the only one with a flex section but bolts to the stock elbow just like a stock downpipe. |
Im glad we dont have emissions here in bama!
|
yeah. in ohio we don't have it either...not yet!.. but i bought my car in nashville and it was a pain.
|
here in Ontario anything 87 and older we don't have to get tested
|
We have emissions in some parts of Ohio. Mine passed with flying colors though.
|
haha i have to do it here in washington, although i havent had to do it yet since i have only owned the car for about 3-4 months i know it wont pass, i can smell the richness.
|
Aaaaaaah, the smell of richness. I used to smell more rich than I do these days and then I bought a supra. Now I only remember the smell of richness, lol.
I know..., I'm only joking. |
AND.. not all smog machines are equal.
I just did mine last week. Had to go to a Test Only center, so I ran it up on my machine, and it was beautiful. Then, I leave it running, drive 3 blocks to the other place, which has the same brand machine as mine, and shit if i didn't just barely pass. I found out later that his machine needed servicing. I passed...because mine was super clean to begin with....but I guess those poor suckers with dirtier exhausts are all failed that day. There is a wide margin of 'legal' machine calibration. I had just had my machine serviced the day before, while the other guys machine really needed it. |
I showed a bunch of tech buddies of mine and they think it passed with "flying colors", I know that saying is over rated but they see ALOT of newer cars that pass with higher numbers. Plus alot of people say, "Yeah mine passed with flying colors", but I don't see a sheet to prove it. I want to see another supra that passed with lower numbers than me.
And I've never seen a car with lower NOx than that. 161?!?! That is unheard of for a 20 year old turbo car. I guess I must have done sumtin right when I replaced my head gasket. Cleaning out the EGR passages do WONDERS for this engine. Well as of 9am this morning, I took the whole exhaust off my car. Turbine elbow, downpipe, cat and catback are now in my junk parts pile. Took me about an hour because I had to die grind the bolts off the cat. I had the downpipe off in 20 minutes, it's only the about the 20th time its been off. I'm ordering a blitz spec nur 3" stainless and a 3" stainless TMS downpipe with built in turbine elbow on monday. My 3" stainless test pipe came in yesterday, it sure is purdy. Should have all of it by the end of this week. I will post pics when I get it. |
Just received my NUR spec exhaust, just waiting on my titanmotorsports downpipe.

I love Japan, anything that comes out of Japan is far superior than any american made garbage. ARP is american made so there are exceptions. http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...e/DSC00621.jpg Thats my custom built yellow pc in the background, "dude, its not a dell...." http://i44.photobucket.com/albums/f2...e/DSC00622.jpg Vrooooommm..... Yeah can you tell I'm excited, I'm acting like a little kid here :) Total cost, downpipe testpipe catback with shipping $1022. And yeah my mommy and daddy didn't pay for it. I work hard for my money and spend it wisely. Matter of fact, they would shit a brick if they knew how much I spent. |
