new engine question
I had a new engine put in by the dealership 30k miles ago. Now i am showing signs of a BHG and i BABY that car since the engine blew the first time. what gives?
|
well since you got it from the dealership it may have a warrenty. id check that out, otherwise go to toyota and bitch them out for putting a shitty head gasket in it hehe.
|
Also sinse you got it done at the stealership those head bolts won't be torqued tight enough if you relied on them to do it because the tech book or tsrm still says 59lbs of torque, So I would look into the head bolts with a torque wrench and your trusty 14.mm socket.
I tried everywhere today to find a deep well 14.mm 12 point socket for my stud bolts. What a task not a parts store in town had one. I ended up getting it at sears. |
how does such a great company like toyota fuck up something like this...again? im sure they no about this problem and how to fix it... /rant
id go back and bitch them. it wont make you feel better but after you leave you can laugh that you just made someone as miserable as you. |
I work in customer service so i can be good at making people feel miserably for shoddy service. So the consensus is that I have a right to go and bitch them out for a BHG after 30k miles?
|
well ask them what they torqued the head to. tsrm says 50ft/lb i believe but it should be more like 75-80
|
Actually I read last night, the tsrm states 58lbs. of torque.
I used a 2 inch extention and went to 85lbs. myself because I figure the extention threw it off a few lbs. |

You could use any length of this type, 2,3,6,12" etc. Also, were you using factory bolts? And if so, they are NOT to be re-used. |
