Looks like to me the shifter is in backwards. It has a slight bend to it that would have it in the right place if you turn it around with the boot. There are Three boots by the way, two rubber and the shift boot which should be leather.
I uploaded two pics of my car with the shift boot off and the knob off. I tore off the outer pipe also which is why my shifter looks different. You may have to remove the lower half of the console to remove the rubber boots. The first pic is in nuetral the second is in 1st gear. |
