Shimming waste gate for 8psi.

I want to shim the waste gate, im looking to get 8psi of boost since I have a stock boost gauge. How many washers do I need to put in to get 8psi?

west_side_supra 05-10-2007 02:47 AM

well i have 4 and im doing about 10-12psi
so i would say 2 maby 3.
but why only 8. it dont matter that you have the stock boost gauge i have a stock boost gauge still :) it just pegs the needle out.

Yeah I was thinking that about 2 or 3 washers would do the job, Ill give it a try this weekend.
This is the reason I want to start modding my car. Well Ill post this in here since hardly anyone looks at the kill thread.
VVVVV

My first fu#king loss today in the supra. I raced Mustang GT auto 1998 from a 50mph roll at first I had him on rear bumper but around 90mph he passed me and put like 1 and a half on me. The second run was like at 65mph but had him on my side but I let off since there was traffic coming. The last run it was like at 25mph I instantly had him on my bumper even though he started first, at around 80mph he put one car and a half length on me and I stopped. This is the first time I loose, I really tought I was going to beat him at least by a freaking car lenght.

My mods:
*3" down pipe
*Monza catback 2.5" the tips on the muffler are like 1"(was already on car when bought)
*no catalyzer.

Mustang GT Mods:
*full dual exhaust with flowmaster 40 series
*Cold air intake
*MSD wires

Mods to come:
Shim waste gate to 8 or 9 PSI
Hard pipes for intercooler
K&N intake
3" exhaust
^^^You guys think I can beat him with these mods?

west_side_supra 05-10-2007 06:42 AM

you need to get a bigger exhaust bro
you got a 3" downpipe
but a restrictive catback
and did u say a 1" tip?
you need to free-up those exhaust gases so the turbo can work better

i dont know if he gonna miss a shift driving an automatic, but if he does that will be pretty hilarious

Yeah I have dual tips that are 1" inch each, I dont know what pacesetters was thinking. Im going to cut the tips for now, and in a few weeks Ill get my true 3" full exhaust.

Yeah his car is an auto, but I wish it were manual since theres more space to mess up. LOL

Pacesetter sucks dick. Worse aftermarket exhaust you can buy.

Does your 3" downpipe replace the stock turbine elbow? Or does it bolt to the stock elbow? Because thats where most of the power comes from when installing a 3" catless exhaust, that elbow is a big ass restriction.

It bolts up to the stock elbow. yeah its a pretty restricted elbow. I think ive seen 3" elbow on ebay for about $120.

Im getting a job next week, so Ill finally have enought money to start modding my car.
