That's to remove the heater core.
To "clean" it you can disconnect the 2 hoses under the hood that connect to the inlet and outlet of the heater core. The one on the passenger side is the inlet (coolant from engine to heater core). The one on the drivers side is the outlet (coolant from heater core to engine). You want to back flush it, which means disconnect both hoses, take a garden hose with an appropriate spray nozzle, and spray it into the drivers side heater core nipple. Be sure to attach something on the passenger side heater core nipple to catch or aim the coolant that gets sprayed out as you don't want it all over the electronics. |
