redlining

how bad is redlining for your car? I have never put my car past 4k yet, but I know it taps its power around 5400? (86.5 NA).

I always want to just floor it but i'm nervous

You'll feel a severe power cut when you go to high. Stay right under the red mark and you'll be fine.

Fine as in, do it whenever you "feel the need for speed" ? lol

you don't want to make it a habit right?

isn't that how BHG's happen?

I said keep it under the red and you'll be fine.

Ultimately you never want to red line and if you find that you do, somewhat frequently. Then you may want to concider a shift light.

hope this help but when i was racing my friend in an empty wide street i notice that when i pass 5500rpm the car just dropped in power and when i get my turbo timer it told me that 5500 is peak power so now if im just being stupid i shift at 5800 or so and stay away from the 6500 shift

Supra2NR 06-01-2007 09:10 PM

What turbo timer are you talking about

Cuz most turbo timers jus keep the car running after u turn the key off

j3pz 06-02-2007 01:05 AM

your tt speaks to you? that would just freak me out...

tt: "shift now"
me: "not yet"
tt: "shift now"
me: "why am i hearing voices???"
tt: "bitch you better shift right now or ill blow this shat up!"
me: "wow thats some good reefer..."

It really depends on the engine and clutch. Some of the MKIII's I've met would drop dead if pushed that hard. Mine will do it all day long. With cars as old as ours the published power specs are typically worthless.

I don't recommend always hammering on it and if you've never pushed it hard don't just start revving it to the top all the time. If something's going to give it's better it does it with less load on it.

im using the HKS turbo timer Type-1 it offers 0-60 time lap time and etc and yes it does tell me my peak power it was worth the 110bux i paid for it

supramacist 06-04-2007 04:19 PM

I say load that b_itch. If it's going to go it's going to go.

Nothing you can do, except make sure it's a fabulous show.

We should all buy new z cars and thrash our supras.
