Ya you'll spin the same but more smoothly.
Anytime you can reduce friction it's just smart money. And sinse you're doing new internals I would have it done along with the head being ported and polished. |

$$$
I was just wondering how much money it costs you to do all that work (head and block)?

3/4 hundred for the machining of the head.
300 for the port and polish. I'm not sure how much for the block. I lapped mine. I would bet it would be about the same or a bit more than 300. Under 500. No problems. |

With all this work being done to your motor what kind of numbers are you
expecting? Or is this all to get it back to the original state? |

I don't think in a straight line man and I never had it on the track.
It broke right after I aquired it. I'm more of a road course kinda guy. I'm expecting 250 horse. But that is probably higher than what it will be. Last edited by supramacist; 07-06-2007 at 05:39 PM. |

So this is just to make it reliable?
And don’t worry I think a car that can go in a straight line is cool but if it cant take a corner it is kind of useless. |

I did my build after almost a year of research.
I decided what was best for me was to remove and replace anything and everything that had been or could cause me headaches. I dropped the tank and put a walbro in. I modded up. Carbon Fiber hood, blaster coil ss, msd wires front and rear shock tower rods. Starter, power steering pump, flywheel, alternator, clutch, water pump. Everything bro. I spent all of last summer taking it apart and cleaning it up. I spent the winter making up my mind as to what parts I wanted. Spare no expense on the parts, don't buy cheap parts. Buy quallity parts. www.horsepowerfreaks.com Visit it, browse it, dial it. And yes all of this bs was to ensure not having to spend this winter researching anything I don't want to. This thing should be bullet proof. |

You're right Jp. But we do the best we can, don't we.
I'll be working on mine tomorrow. I have to put the starter back on. Fire it up. |

the head ended up costing me like $460. it would have been $400 but i had to go get it remachined. the block is ganna cost like $750 for polished crank, cleaning, checking for cracks and such, and lapping. all this is to just build up the motor so it can handle the power i want to put in it.
is there way to tell if the camshafts have been swicthed? i know there has got to be a way if there is a diffrence between the intake and exhaust cams. can someone tell the conversion from inchs to mm. (they ended up taking .004 inchs off the head) thanks Last edited by tone loc; 07-09-2007 at 07:20 PM. |
