Engine Dif
Hi im new here. I bought 3 87 supras. 1 has a running 7mge in it. i was wondering what the difference besides turbo is between the 7mge and 7mgte. what all has to be done to swap a 7mgte into my current car. if the differences between the 2 arent that much i might take my spaire engine and convert it being the spare 7mge i have has a blown piston to begin with. my thoughts was maybe the only differences like alot of cars is maf ofcourse exhaust manifold and turbo maybe larger injectors different pistons forshure. and i do believe the turbo uses a multicoil system. like i said if there isnt many differences ill turbo the 7mge and use the distributor setup. someone plz give me some insite into this i know these cars have sick potential but being new to this kinda sux. thank you

copression ratio is diffrent

Different compression ratio due to different pistons,
*slightly* different intake cam, GTE has oil squirters, GTE's injectors are ~35% larger, the N/A block doesn't have a place for the turbo's oil return or supply, the N/A's thermostat neck doesn't have the fitting for the turbo's coolant routing, the N/A will need an adapter for an oil cooler, the GTE uses a higher amperage alternator, the GTE's oil pump has a higher flow (IIRC), the GTE's AFM is MUCH less restrictive and more accurate, the N/A has valving to modify the intake air flow when driving at a high load, the N/A's ECU uses a MUCH more aggressive timing advance map..... etc, etc, etc. |
That and just use the search function. There are countless threads and comments on this very subject.
