Default Rear brake pads

I`m just about to attempt to change the rear brake pads on my 1989 3.0i Supra but never having done this sort of thing before I turned to the Haynes manual.

This being next to useless I looked up changing pads on the internet.

This is what I found..

My question is basically this. Would the instructions given in this article transfer well to me changing the rear brake pads on my Supra? i.e. Are they all basically the same?

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Yes that's a very good guide to follow. Just take your time when taking anything off to note what it looks like while it's on so you are confident after the job is finished that it was done right. When doing the supra brakes two metal V-shaped springs are attached to the brake pads via a few holes. Note how they are before taking them off and putting them in the new pads.

Just one last question. Should I leave the hand/parking brake on or off?

If you are jacking up the whole back end and puting it in jack stands then it doesnt really matter seeing as the e brake pads are inside the rear brake rotor. If you are just jacking one side either put the e brake on or chock the front wheels it will roll and you could be under it better safe then sorry.

Always put a chock on both sides of one front wheel that is going to stay on the ground when you lift your car up. I'd recommend doing one side at a time since your front wheels don't have any other way of keeping still without a chock. If lifting the front end I feel okay doing both since I got both e-brake and chocks for safety in the rear.
