Default JDM MkIII Crazy Clutch Shriek

Hey Guys,

I've got a JDM 1991 MKIII and it's been extensively modded from Japan. It boosts ohsofast and is powered by a 1JZ with a single HKS turbo set up.

The clutch has started to make a very high pitched squeal/grind only when I put the pedal all the way in. I dropped the tranny (for the first time) and noticed it had a wild Ogura Racing clutch but I didn't check to see how many plates. Anyways, after some searching I found a replacement release bearing and i've replaced it. Now, with the tranny back in place, the grinding is happening again, so I'm at a bit of a loss. Clearly, if its a multiplate set up, the clutch plates could be worn/bent and rubbing when released, so the car will need a new clutch.

I want to know if I can use the 7MGTE clutch if I retain the 1JZ flywheel? Anyone have any insight on this?

Thanks!

As far as I know the 7m with a R154 has the same clutch setup. I know you can use the clutch but not the flywheel if that makes any sense. At least this is what I have read from another forum.

Thanks for that tip - does anyone have any suggestions on a good clutch to use? The ACT Xtreme set up has been reliable for my Nissans, but I don't know if Toyota lovers have a particular manf. that they favour.

Thanks again.
