How much did you pay to replace your head gasket?
And is it worth it to try my self?

^ Just try it your self. Once you get into it it becomes pretty easy.

Also if you are looking for a HG check out my 87 part out thread.

I have a HKS Metal Headgasket.

Mill the head $100, gaskets $70 to $80 on ebay thats a w/ a graphite HG, ARP head studs $120. Getting started is the hard part.

Is milling the head absolutely necessary or would I be ok with out it?

If you go without it you will just end up walking again. Much sooner than later dude.

The block has to be resurfaced as well. Do not cut corners on these cars. You'll pay dearly for it. After you just finished paying what you already have.
