Slotted Rotors
Put on slotted rotors yesterday. Only the front, with new organic pads. The rotors came with a sheet of paper telling you how to break the new rotors in and that you must use new pads with these rotors and it also recommends using semi-metallic pads. I couldn't find any store that had semi-metallics in stock only one store had a set of organic pads.
After you take the caliper and bracket off the old rotors come off with a block of wood and a big fuckin hammer. Or if you don't give a shit you can straight hit the rotor with the hammer. Just keep rotating the rotor and hitting it and it will eventually come off. They look better out of the bag. I was going to paint the calipers and brackets but with the stupid sawblades it would have been pointless. Gotta order stainless steel lines and maybe the rotors for the back. |

how much did you pay for it? mine was $85 a pair from braketech in long beach

The paper is in the car but it tells you to make 10 stops from 35mph and waiting 3-4 minutes until you stop again and thats between each stop. Then after 20 miles you stop from 50mph 3 times but don't fully come to a stop, always keep the car moving. And don't make any "highspeed stops" for 500 miles. Basically you have to heat the rotors up slowly and allow them to cool before you heat them up again. It "tempers" the rotor. Just repeating roughly what the paper says.
Well my rotors were stock 20 years old never replaced. I had a tough time getting the drivers side off, it was a bitch I had to literally smash it off. There is a ridge on the outer most surface of the old rotors, they were pretty bad. I paid $200 shipped for Powerslot rotors. They have some cadmium plating or some shit so they don't rust. The rears are $220 and the lines are $89. I'll be ordering the lines next week. And slotted rotors are directional, so keep that in mind when installing them. They are labeled on the rotor. crap when i put them on i went about 65 then braked hard to see how fast they would stop compared to stock, oh well
and yea i knew about slotted being directional, i saw some guy with a navigator that had em on in the wrong direction and i tried telling him but he looked all confused. and also im wondering since theres such a big price gap between mines and powerslots is there a difference in performance too? or is it just the label?

there are two threaded holes on the rotors where u put a bolt in and tighten them to push them off. that way you dont have to beat them.
