if you have replaced that caliper with a new one, then take it off, and return it for a replacement with the receipt, or your gonna have to go and get a new one if you haven't already. Also is he gonna charge you anything for looking at the car. If he is find out how much, and then find out how much for him to do the caliper, keep in mind his price is going to include a new caliper. so get a price on a caliper anyway, and if its only a little more for him to do it. then i would have him do it, rather then pay him just to look at it, and then have to go to the store and do it yourself.

frozen calipers can be broken loose, but a rebuild kit is neccesary. or you can just replace with a fresh caliper loaded or unloaded.

replace the brake booster and its vaccum line. Or check the vaccum line connection going to the intake. Most cars have vaccum power assisted brakes, if theres no vaccum in the booster, you dont have assited braking. Try this, pump the brakes a few times with car on, turn it off, and pump them a lot more times. if nothign changes (braking gets harder, softer, anything) than you probably have a vaccum booster problem. A good booster should hold enough vaccum after the car is off for 2 or 3 or 4 pumps(Its an emergency feature)
