Desperately Seeking help with Lexus AFM and Injectors!!!
I just installed a set of 550cc/min injectors and a Lexus AFM. Now the car runs like crap. Sounds like a misfire at idle, almost like I have a cam in it, and it sounds like it is misfireing throughout the rpm range. While driving, it misses slightly. No check engine light. When I get on it, It will get to 5lbs normally and then shoot to 9 lbs. What can this be? Please hlep.

Which KV sensor is in the Lex AFM? You need to swap in the one from your stock AFM.
Also, what brand of injectors are you running? |
I don't know, but I tried it with the stock one on and the lexus unit. Still ran the same way. How can I tell what's what? I heard something about a screw, what is that? As far as the injectors go, I have no idea, but they came off of his car and were fine on his car. He had them cleaned and tested then i got them. All I know, is that I didn't have to use seperate clips.

It sounds like you're running very rich. Do you have a wideband? If so, what are your AFRs looking like?
EDIT: Oh, the screw is used to reduce or increase the amount of unmetered air that's let through the AFM. It's in the side and I think there's normally a cover over it. If you don't have a wideband I wouldn't recommend adjusting it. |
I see the screw and didn't touch it. I checked to see if all of the injectors are firing, and they are, also, no codes. Should I have to readjust my timing for this mod or anything I should be doing otherwise? I don't have a wideband by the way.

Well, with no tuning your idle and low power band are going to be pretty rich. Idle will probably be real bad since I don't think the ECU monitors A/F at idle... sorry, it's late and I can't picture the entire scenario or remember all the specifics at the moment. I'll post back if I think of anything else.

there is no screw really you just see the screw head
thats part of your problem . you are most likely lean and getting too much air this site used to have pictures http://www.supras.co.uk/resources/Mk...e.htm#Chapter3 the lexuz afm has a large bypass section allowing unmetered air you need to adjust that amount of unmetered air it would have been good to install an air/fuel meter before so you'd have an idea where your mixture was at before search google for "reg reimer afm screw " |
Thanks alot for all of your help.

In the even this doesn't work you can pull the efi fuse and crank the engine to clear the old codes and the use the jumper wire and try codes again.
I know you said you had none but it may be beneficial to clear it and try it again. |
I tried that and still nothing. However, I did find out that the injectors were actually a littler bigger than 550cc. Somewhere around 600 or so. This is probably the reason the car is running like crap. But it does seem to be a tad bit better.
