Locking the Crankshaft
I need to tighten the crank bolt but can't really access the flywheel to stick a prybar in there.
Is there any other way to keep the crankshaft from turning (other than the prybar)? |
tighten your ebrake really tightly and put the car in gear, if its 5spd of coarse. 3rd gear works best.

But its a long bar and a bike chain at the end I used to wrap around the flywheel And pinned it against the ground Or, call a friend |
I usualy find my own ways to block rotation to save buying that specialty tool :P such as stick a wooden block between the timing belt and a sprocket so it can't turn ,manuals are easy 'cause you just put 'em in gear. If creativity isn't enough your going to have to buy the handle thing Supra2NR mentioned.

I ended up jamming the belt with some wood.
Was gonna do that at first but I thought the belt would slip round the crank pulley. Thanks. =] |
