Speedo not working - found the problem and need some advice.
Hi all, i took my instrument panel out to see if the speedo was damaged, but when i spun the "gear" the speedo was working fine. So i drove the car around my house and the the cable wasnt moving, so i thought it must be the connection to the tranny at first, but then i heard a squeal from the green conector that goes to the speedo so im wondering what should i do now? Any help would be awsome. Thanks!

i just fixed my speed, its got two parts to it. theres a cable that runs from the dash thru the fire wall(thats the worst part of getting it in) it runs down behind he downpipe and the under the chassis up to the tranny. at first it was the cable that goes to the tranny(the cable becomes two under the chassis) it was snapped because the second half going to the dash was locked up and wouldnt spin which i found out by putting a replacement in and snapping it as well. just spin the cables and make sure they move. spin the longer cable going to the dash and have someone check to see if the tach moves, pspinning the wrong way will result in no movement so try both. hope this helped. any more questions bout it just ask and ill help with what i can

Hey, I recently did a little speedo work as well. I had to replace the lower cable (15 bucks at the dealer). That little adapter piece though... If you can find it somewhere besides the dealer, that'd be great because I was priced in the mid $100 range for that little 1 1/2" piece. It's expensive....
