Little Coolant Loss

ok so i check my coolant every few days and notice that it isn't all the way up anymore. just a little bit is missing like maybe a cup of water needs to be added to fill it completely again. i don't smell antifreeze, no smoking from exhaust, no signs what so ever of a bhg, except for a little coolant loss. so i'm wondering if it is the radiator cap cuz it isn't as snug as it was since i replace the radiator with a koyo one. can anyone help me?

its possible, but when opening your hood you would see coolant. Go buy a block test kit. $50, but the best $50 you'll ever spend. Do the test and post your results.

I had the EXACT same symptoms as you. Trust me, do the block test.

ok i didn't get the block test yet but after work today i opened the hood and checked and saw that the coolant is going into my overflow tank. there isn't a lot going in just a little bit but it adds up after a few days.

so what is this? is it a bhg just starting?

You should try a new cap. The way the system works is that when the pressure gets too much it overflows and as the system cools down it creates a vacuum and draws coolant back in from the overflow tank and re-fills the radiator and gets rid of any air left providing there is enough coolant in the overflow.
If its going out and not coming back than I would try the cap first and possibly a new thermostat to go with that.

is the thermostat housing of an non turbo interchangable with a turbo?

can anyone tell me if it is for sure...i think it is just want to make sure. thanks

The turbo's t-stat housing has more sensor ports (one or two more.. I think it's just one more though). It'd be easy to use a turbo t-stat housing on an N/A but not the other way around.

ok thanks man.

Also, dont keep adding just water. If it starts to get too much water into it could start to rust the coolant passages.

I have the same problem, but my cap is good. I did a compression test and got 110psi on #1 cylinder, the rest was at 150psi +/-4psi. What could it be?
