I asked the same question on the UK forum some years ago, this is the response I had “Cams and journals on many 7m engines are scratched and this "normal" I've also found this on the Supramaia forum. http://www.supramania.com/forums/showthread.php?t=16390&highlight=camshaft
and

My radial scratches where about 5 to 10 thou deep on the cams and bearings. I reused mine without any problems. A few years later I stripped the engine down to do a bigend repair and re inspected the cams again but found no increase in wear or any increase in scratches. Two questions: Do you have any photo's of the camshaft scratches and did you have the crankshaft checked for cracks before re grind. ?
