Clutch Problem
87 NA. The car sat for 11 years first off. The engine blew so I put in a new motor. I put in a new clutch plate, pressure plate, throwout bearing, and pilot bearing. I drove the car for about a week and it did ok but there felt like there was a problem in the clutch or master or slave cylinder. When you press the clutch petal theres about 1 to 1 1/2 of freeplay and the petal feels spongy after the freeplay (it really hard to explain). So I bleed the line and allittle bit of air came out, but not much and the petal felt more firm. 2 days later its doing it again and when it does it it really hard to shift and almost impposible to shift to reverse without grinding. any suggestions

Stock components?
Try pumping the pedal a few times, if that helps then the master cylinder or the clutch release cylinder might be worn out. You said the car sat for 11 years. Most mechanical components need to be exercised once in a while to stay in working order especialy components with seals in them. I'd get new ones, they aren't that expensive. |
