Default break lights won't turn off

i've asked around, had break light switches replaced, the little box in the back replaced, ground wires replaced, all types of things

and the break lights on the car just won't turn off. you start the car, and they staty on, lit (high intensity), so when ur driving it's showing as if u were breaking, u can turn the car off, and the lights still remain lit, unless you unplug them, it's the break lights btw, can any1 help me out?

btw it's a 91

i had the same problem. if you follow the break peddle up you will find a small button. you can adjust the button and your lights will turn off.

It's possible the little button he's describing has broken off. I had that problem recently and to fix it I got a plastic press fit rivet to go in the hole to make up for the gap the old button would fill in between the brake arm and the brake light off sensor. Do some back stretches and get a bright flashlight to look under your dash to see what we are describing.

Umm this might be dumb but what does the brake fluid lvl have anything to do with the lights staying on? Well let me refrase if your brake fluid is low it might cause the pedal to sink i guess and cause it to activate the brake lights, iv never heard of it happing tho.
Anyway did you replace the switch that tells the car that the brake pedal is being pushed? I dont know were it is, but if heard of it happening to some people it was a simple case of it was bad and sticking.

the same thing happend to me its more than likely the switch infront of the brake pedal. when you press on the brakes it lets the switch go out completing the circuit and turns the light on if its miss adjusted than the pedal wont press it in to tell the lights to turn off.
