1jz for 1991 Supra turbo/harness,motor mts issue?
Thanks for all the info in the previous thread. I think I understand a whole lot more about Supras and what can be done with them.
From that, I like the 1jz swap to my 1991 Supra Turbo idea. From what I gather there are 3 modifications necessary. 1) The wiring harness has to be lengthened, even on ones that come uncut with the 1jz. 2) Motor mounts need to be changed. 3) A different drive shaft has to be installed. Does that sound right? Where can I find a drive shaft and motor mounts? Thanks for your help. Stan |

you have a 91 so the motor mounts are fine, direct fit. since you already have the turbo tranny the driveshaft is fine, the only difference is the bellhousing, and extending the wiring harness isnt necessary.
do more research.

Thanks oowee623 Bell housing?
Thanks oowee623. If I get the 1jz with tranny (Auto), do I still have to do something about the bellhousing? I guess the drive shaft is still no problem, no? Thanks, I still am doing my homework.

Method has been around for awhile. I remember hearing about it about 2 1?2 years ago from one of my buddies going through the same thing :-)

if it comes with the tranny then it will come with the right bellhousing since im assuming its already attached to the engine, and with the driveshaft it depends on it its auto, turbo 5 speed, or na 5 speed, they all have different splines. you'll only need the front peice of the driveshaft though, the back peice is tha same regardless of the tranny
