How hard is would this be?
Well as a few of you know I am new in the supra scene and just bought a mk3...the biggest thing im not liking about it is that its a automatic so my question is how hard would it be to find a 5spd trans and all the other stuff I would need to do a auto to 5spd swap. (in the chicago area) I dont know the area very well because i just moved here so i dont know where any salvage yards are. Any help is greatly appreciated.

well have you ever rebuilt an engine before? Have you ever swapped a transmission before? If not dont attempt it

yes i have, i guess more along the lines of my question is how hard is it to find a good supra tranny in like a salvage yard

i did the auto to 5sp swap me and my brother did it all in a weekend but i had a parts car that had all the five speed stuff if i was u i would check ebay or craigslist for the stuff u need the
clutch pedal assemby master cylinder slave cylinder clutch lines drive shaft and a clutch and flywheel and the shifter i think thats all u will need in case u needed to no what to look for |
hard part, getting the auto out, easy part getting the 5 speed in, but altogether not that hard just a lot of strength, youll need a new speedo cable, clutch master/slave cylinder, clutch line, clutch and brake pedals, tranny driveshaft, flywheel, clutch, pressure plate, pilot bearing, release bearing, driver side wing bracket, inspection plate, 6 new flywheel bolts beginner wiring skills, and tach and ecu (last two are optional)
