Rod Knock??? Why!!!!
Yesturday I finally Finished my HG :naughty:, and now it sounds like I have a slight rod knock only at about 2000 rpm, but I dont think it was there before, it runs fine and isnt getting any worse, it might have gone away.
ANY SUGGESTIONS??Or why now??? |
The coolant got down into the bearings from your Blown HG and that has caused your rod knock. You most likely did not drop the oil pan to take a look to make sure though did you?
|
The oil wasnt a milky color, it ran fine when I pulled the head. Compression was gettung into the cooling system. No I didnt pull the oil pan. Should I???
|
No need now. The damage is irreversible.

might seem dumb but was it low on engine oil at any time?? mine was burning oil and i topped it up and went on a roadtrip and by the time i got into town it started to knock so just always check on that....it cost me an engine ha and by the way u wanna buy a 7mgte block with a bad rod bearing ha

The cam caps looked like the engine was oil starved at one time. Now that I have some miles on it, the knock is gone:dance: There is a god, im running her in our local 1/8th saturday. I will let you know what I run. Thanks everyone

I just barely bought it, it now has new HG and a 2.5" turbo back exhaust with 1 cat. and a cone filter. Im planning on running 13 pounds of boost, I wont hit fuel cut at this high of elevation just under 7,000 ft. Any guesses if I can learn to launch?? Im getting the OBX downpipe and 3" straight next week.
