Question on wire for rewiring KS
I went to my local Radio Shack and they didnt have thin net wire. So I was thinking about using regular electrical 16-18 gauge wire. Is this ok?
I really want to rewire my knock sensor tommorow morning, so fast input would really be nice. Thanks guys. Im going to sodder the wiring and im going to use heat shrink tubbing btw. Or where else can I find thin-net wire? NOte: Im using the KS rewiring guide from www. supras.com |
nope the write up says that the regular 16-18 ga speaker wire is to extend the shield ground ("because you're not sure where you're going to ground the braided wire at.") so just go to frys and check this wire
http://shop3.outpost.com/product/3550664/# frys is on 2300 West Baseline Road in tempe, I go there every year on vacation to buy stuff I can't get here in kuwait. |
Im confused, does the thin net cable have a solid cable in the middle? I dont think i knew what I was looking for, i thought is had to have reagular wire the in the middle.
Is this it? http://www.showmecables.com/catalog/...%20Thinnet.jpg |

Why are people rewiring the knock sensor? Has there been problems with the factory wiring?
|
Yes the radio shack wire will work fine and get some regular wire to connect to the shield to extend the ground, the ground point at the back of the intake plenum will probably be fine.
