Removing the struts
When i bought my kyb front struts i was going to install them then i got under the car and looked at it and it looks like a big puzzel so i gave up and took it to a shop, so i was wondering if anyone could give me some pictures of what i have to unbolt to get the strut and spring out.
How far can the car be lowered using the stock struts i was told 2" front and back, anything lower the 2" i was told i would have to get some different struts? |

probly around 2.5" both front and rear but my rear right now is even lower, as the shocks are blown so the wheel is almost tucked under the wheelwell the front is a little bit tricky to take out, i had to take out the control arms to get the shocks in the rear is a lot easier to replace |
This is on your stock struts? What type of struts do you have? And were did you find 2.5" lowering springs i cant even find 2" anymore?

Replacing struts on a MK3 is far from a puzzle, its actually one of the easiest vehicles to lower, if you don't believe me go try lowering an 80's chevy.
All you need is a 19mm socket, 19mm wrench and a big fuckin breaker bar at least 2 feet long. In the front you need to unbolt the upper control arm by taking that long ass bolt out. Have fun extracting it, as the whole wheel well is built around that bolt. The rears are very simple, just unbolt the strut and wrestle with it for a while, should not take you more than 1 hour for the rears and maybe 3 hours for the fronts. |
i replaced the shocks on my dads tacoma and that was much easyer to replace then the struts on my car.
