The only tech article I'm aware of is a manual (6spd) conversion for a tt. Hopefully it has some info that can help you:
MKIV.COM

When you're done, hopefully you can post some of the stuff that you learn! :)

hey thanks well i managed to get my reverse lights hooked up easily using that article but im having problems with the neutral switch it says there is a plug for the clutch sensor underneath dash but i cant find it but i did manage to join 2 wires together from the transmission and it shows neutral on the auto park reverse etc dash lights but does it neccessarily mean it thinks its in neutral? because it still wont start. im just using my auto dash cluster for the mean time any help is appreciated also is the neutral switch for and auto just some wire to the trans or is it a box.

cheers

I doubt the auto (PRND2L) dash lights are relevant after a manual swap, since I don't see them at all on my 6spd tt dash. However, you are breaking some new ground here, so I couldn't even say that for sure. About the only other possibly-relevant piece of info I have is that a lot of guys with aftermarket heavy-pedal-pressure clutches completely disable the clutch-depressed no-start switch, because keeping the havy-pedal-pressure clutch depressed while starting has proven to wear out the thrust bearings in the engine. In other words, you should be able to completely bypass the no-start clutch-depressed signal to your ecu (assuming you've already swapped to a manual ecu - right?)...
