im new and dont know much about motor... but couldent you get like a new manifold for a twin setup? or are the motors way diffrent? i was looking around busting my balls over some turbo upgrades and kits and i saw a few that came with a new manifold so i guess you could do that, saves alot of trubble putting in a new engine that is the same but no turbos.

if you want you could get a new manifold...but the internals are different...since a nonturbo motor is at a higher compression, it would be ok if you ran at stock boost, but if you plan to upgrade the boost then ull need to change the internals for lower compression, a motor swap just lets you have a turbo motor that is alrdy setup to handle boost, rather than making the changes yourself...its really up to the person thats modding teh car....turbo kits are good at stock boost, but to let the car handle more power and boost you will eventually have to change the internals to prevent blowing the motor

I don't know about the 2jz, but adding a turbo to a N/A 7m will send it into limp home mode unless you get an new ECU. The pistons on the turbo cars are dished to lower compression, and also some of them are forged. IMHO it would be easier and less hassle to get your hands on a complete engine and ECU and swap em, it will be far more reliable and possibly cheaper in the long run since if you go with a stand alone ECU (like you would most likely need to), you need to spend a lot of time tuning it on a dyno so you don't go lean.
Up to you, but it's not going to be cheap either way really... |

there are bigger and more oil squirters in the turbo engine, this is one of the factors that make the 2jz-gte so damn dependable, just get the turbo engine and save youself the aching headache that getting a n/a block and pressing these in would cause, other than that and the compression deal, the block is vitually the same as the turbo big brother.there are also 2jz-ge conversion to turbo kits available from suprastore and the like.but these will only yeild around 500hp max potential, with the 2jz-gte the hp can climb to as much as 1200 hp!think these figures over,as 500hp is nothing to scoff at either, peace!
