Default 1996 twin turbo 6 speed question.

Whats up guys? I found a 1996 Supra that a guy was messing around in and he was trying to drift it, not racing just messing around in it. The motor now has a light tick or Knock to it. What could this be? The reason Im asking is Im thinking about picking it up from him, its been setting in a garage stored forever! Its only got 8,000 miles on it, yes I didnt forget a number 8K. Just trying to figure out what it could be. Any help would be greatly appreciated and how much do you guys think it is worth?

Rod knock is possible...due to a spun bearing or a bent connecting rod (or both). However, it also could be as simple as a popped shim in the valvetrain? I'd recommend that this type of problem should get a hands-on diagnosis by an experienced mechanic.

NB: Please consider posting any help requests in a new thread instead of asking me for help privately. About 99.9+% of the time, private help requests end up covering great information that could be very valuable to other forum members. If you have a good reason for needing the help request to be private, I'll consider it. If not, then why not give everyone else the opportunity to pitch in too, and/or learn from the information? Remember, there's no such thing as a dumb question. We're all here to help within this family of Supra owners.

Thanks pwpanas, Thats what he told me it was, a spun bearing but he wasn't positive. Will they have to tear into it to see if its a spun bearing? Thanks again for response.

Yes, the oil pan will have to be removed, at the very least.
