Hell I have seen a supra beat a viper and a 360modena. I was astonished myself. And I wouldnt be suprised if you didnt beleive me neither. However, allI have to say is archive top gear or best motoring. In those segments the only car that beat the supra was a porsche 911turbo. The cars were a supra, porsche911turbo, 360modena, 355spyder, audi RS6, viper, vett c6, vett ZO6, BMW M5, BMW Z8, MERCEDES SL65, and of course lastly their own XJ220. Now of course the XJ220 beat it no problem a matter of fact on that track it was a whole 2 seconds faster than the porsche. But I though it was pretty amazing here this 30grand car was holding its own not to mention beating these 100grand cars.
but skil, the new z06 was 2nd fastest production car to go around the nurburing or whatever its called track, only to the carrera gt, the 2006 corvette z06.

So true, I took out my moms imported m3, 1999 and it was homecoming senior year, :-/ so we pull up next to a guy in some ricer it had a turbo and exhaust what I could tell from the eye didnt get to stop and look at it but he pulled up next to us, we had 4 people in the car and amazingly my friend was driving the 2nd leg of the trip, next thing you know he missed 2nd gear, honestly 1st to 2nd should never be missed, but we still won, back to the point the better the driver the better chance of winning

When? In 05 or 06? Also the fastest production car can be interpreted many ways because define fastest? Is it the fastest in a circuit, rally, drag, D1, grand touring, or grand prix? There are many different aspects of the word fastest. IMO and I am sure someone here will have a better link or resource for this the fastest production cars all around are the Ford GT-40, XJ220, the porsche 750, Zonda, and enzo. O and have you ever heard of the aerial atom? That car would decimate just about any car on any circuit track.

The new C6 z06 is a monster. Yes its faster than any modified supra or ENZO or McLaren F1 on the Nurburgring track-STOCK.(Anything that runs the nurburgring in under 8 minutes is fast). Blitz had a fully built, 750hp supra with full suspension-the works and it ran around 7min 50 seconds or so. The base model C6 vette does it around 8 minutes. The C6 could of gone faster on the nurburgring, but jan got air twice. That car is very well built for a factory car(its as close to a race car as it gets folks). The corvettes chassis/suspension design is race car derived. The vette has balance. It is purely a race car at heart. The supra, skyline are not(They use conventional layouts like every other car). Its funny how people compare cars. The supra was originally made to compete against the 300zx, camaro, mustang, 3000gt, etc. But since the supra is very tunable, many have compared, and run against the bigger dogs like the vette or viper. We are gonna need that new supra super car now to keep up on the track. The mkiv is outdated. I own a supra so Im not taking sides. The new vette isnt anything like its predecessor. Its a killer.

Top Gear Magazine 10/97 sameday, 2 professional drivers, best times listed:

Note that Top Gear solicited two professional drivers to test the cars above and each car's best times are shown. This, like all tests, are very driver-dependent. Someone who's not familiar with a particular car, just isn't going to be as fast in it. As an example, the other driver of the NSX recorded a time of 8m 57.13... but this included a full 360 degree spin where the driver was quoted as saying he never had to take it out of second gear!

Default oops off topic

stock supercharged cobra versus stock tt? s/c cobra of course.
stock n/a cobra versus stock tt? good race
Bolt ons versus Bolt ons? supra- stronger bottom end.(btw, the new s/c cobras come with a forged bottom end from the factory)
modified versus modified? depends. can go either way. But remember those 4.6 modulars with turbochargers can make some godly hp- would embarass efantis's supra race car that puts out over 1400hp maxxed out.
In the end it can be anyones race. Just my fifty cents.

IMO and I am sure someone here will have a better link or resource for this the fastest production cars all around are the Ford GT-40, XJ220, the porsche 750, Zonda, and enzo. O and have you ever heard of the aerial atom? That car would decimate just about any car on any circuit track.
the aerial, try the trex 2g skidpad yea i was looking at those cars
