Default 2JZ Ge vs. Gte

I am looking to buy a 93-95 supra NA

Is there a difference in the Engine block and head, or is it just the internals that differ?

I plan on replacing all of the internals anyways.

I also know that there are oil squirters for the crank that do not exist on the Ge. would they need to be installed and if so can it be done?

I am aware of the difference in breaks, some sensors, internals, etc.

Breaks will be upgraded.

can I convert a 5spd manual or a auto 4spd to a 6spd manual tranny? and if so do I have to do anything other than just swap the tranny?

I will of course be upgrading the cooling system with an aftermarket radiator and a double fan shroud. new lines, everything.

then I would like to do a twin turbo setup. any suggestions on good turbo combos are welcome and appreciated. It will be my first supra. the MKIV is my reason for getting into cars and I will give it my all. It will be a fully documented build with videos pics and a full writeup.

I am planning on using AEM plug-n-play standalone for engine management, using a wiring harness from a GTE and the necessary sensors.

If there is ayone who has done this, any tips or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

with all the things that you want to change (6-speed, TT-setup, internals, etc)
then it`s best to buy a Supra with 6-speed and TT

i know a TT Supra with 6-speed is a bit more expensive but you save a lot
of money and time when you buy a TT Supra rather than you have to change it into a TT Supra

here`s a link that shows you how to swap a tranny (it will blow your mind)

That is what I thought i would hear to be honest. it does seem more logical. I just need to find a way to get that much $$

The main reason I want to get a non-turbo is because if I buy it for less i will be able to buy parts slowly on the side and do a full build the way i want it, without having to spend all my money on car payments. it's tough these days ya know, I'm lucky to have a hobbie at all.

so if you know the answer to any of my questions i would be greatly appreciative!!!

Thanks for the opinion.

Literally everything is different. The entire braking system is MUCH weaker, with fewer racing-oriented ABS features, for example. As was said, the transmission is different, along with the differential - both also much weaker than the TT version. The ecu that controls the engine is different - for example the na uses a distributor but the tt's ignition is all computer-controlled with a coil-on-plug setup. It goes on and on.

You wouldn't need to replace any internals if you start with a TT - they're good to 1000hp...really!

Depends on your horsepower goals. Oh and they're not a bolt-on - you'd have to get the n/a block drilled by a machinist in order to create the mounting points for the oil squirters.

Are you? In addition to the lack of four-piston calipers up front, the TT puts more braking power on the outside wheels if you brake while cornering. The n/a doesn't do that. Again, it's far more than just sensors - it's literally the entire powertrain front to back that's far weaker in the n/a.

Will you upgrade the ABS ecu and the wiring harness too?

swap from 5spd manual to 6spd manual would be quite easy - just swap the tranny.

Why? The cooling system on the na is the same as the TT's...and the oem TT cooling system doesn't need to be upgraded unless you're going to be roadracing (extended 30+ minute full-on sessions) in the middle of summer, with bpu+++ or apu engine upgrades. In other words, the oem cooling system will probably meet your needs as-is.

On an n/a engine? That would be horribly expensive. Every kit I've seen for the n/a is a single turbo.

Here's a couple of options for upgrade kits:

Be sure not to get a used harness. With all of the heat the 2jz-gte generates, most used harnesses have several broken/cracked/brittle plastic connectors.

About 99.9+% of the time, private help requests end up covering great information that could be very valuable to other forum members. If you have a good reason for needing the help request to be private, I'll consider it. If not, then why not give everyone else the opportunity to pitch in too, and/or learn from the information? Unhappy Better Off with the TT

Sorry to say, but I agree with the previous posts!
To do what you want to do is probably going to cost you double if not more than just buying a 2JZGTE from the start. And not to mention the possibility of mis-matching parts, things that don't fit, trying to re-wire the whole car etc.
A N/A Supra is like comparing a VW Beattle to a WRX. Yes the engine is of the same design and principle but that's where the similarities end.
Be patient, save your cash and buy a Twin turbo. I was just like you and waited almost 6 years to buy my Supra. In between I was looking at all kinds of other cars and models to buy and do up, but at the end of the day the end of the tunnel only leads to a Twin Turbo 6 Speed Series 1. You will not regret it all, I guarantee it!!
