Default New member and greetings ! Qn abt exhaust

Good day one and all !
I'm a new member here from Malaysia and just wanted to say hi to all

I have a 2JZ-GTE into my car and am loving it ! Currently using stock configuration w/ the twins.
Just a quick question: A silencer is currently fitted inside my exhaust (which is basically straight through except for the silencer).... I was seriously considering removing it... as I've heard that on a 2JZ-GTE, it robs up to 15 BHP .... is that true anyone??
Cheers !!

Greetings, and welcome!

Yes, the silencer (and the catalytic converter as well) will 'rob' peak power and will make your turbos spool up more slowly. Of course, removing either one of them (or preferrably both of them) will make the exhaust significantly louder...

NB: Please consider posting any help requests in a new thread instead of asking me for help privately. About 99.9+% of the time, private help requests end up covering great information that could be very valuable to other forum members. If you have a good reason for needing the help request to be private, I'll consider it. If not, then why not give everyone else the opportunity to pitch in too, and/or learn from the information? Remember, there's no such thing as a dumb question. We're all here to help within this family of Supra owners.
