To start with I did a pressure test and found that the head gasket was blown then did a compression test and found that all the cylinders were down. After we pulled the head it was obvious you could see the four marks in the cylinder made from the piston skirt had been walking up and down the cylinder. The machine shop said it had to be bored. Here it is the whole story.

Sorry to say I'm still a bit confused though. In post 33 you said it's already running after the rebuild...with no codes, in post 31 you say the cam sensor was broken in two pieces, and in post 35 you say you haven't fixed the cam sensor yet. How could it be running with no codes if you haven't fixed the broken cam sensor yet? Oh, and the engine damage you describe is only caused by one thing - running too much boost with not enough octane. Someone was obviously trying to crank the boost up using pump gas. Your aftermarket parts aren't going to handle detonation any better than the oem components - so if you want the rebuild to last, be sure to run high boost only on high octane race fuel. If you follow this rule, the oem 2jz-gte components (yes, bone-stock) can reliably handle over 1000hp (with aftermarket turbo, injectors, and cams of course). The limit on 93 octane ((r+m)/2) pump gas and the oem ecu is about 14psi with the oem twins, and maybe 16psi or so with the oem ecu and a big single turbo. To cause the damage you describe, I'd guess someone was trying to run in excess of 22psi on pump gas.

Sorry for the confusion we haven't fixed any sensor and yes the check engine light did go off even with a broken cam sensor. I can't say forsure what the boost levels where but its safe to say you are most likely right. But this is why I came to this forum to seek out the right answers

agreed it was one of those sensors that caused this whole mess, so for those that read this thread the car had a wore out motor but that was'nt the cause of it's problems we replaced all but on esensor on the motor which was the front cam sensor, sorry to say i can't tell anyone what was the real problem with the car. thanks to pwp for all of his help.i'll post up some eye candy. |
