Engine harness question between auto and manual
Hi,
I purchased a 2jzgte swap that comes with a manual tranny detached. There is however an auto flywheel that is attached to the engine. And I believe the engine harness must be automatic? The swap did not come with any ECU. My question is.. is there any difference between an auto and manual engine harness? Will an auto ECU and a manual ECU fit the connector on the engine harness just fine? Will there be any modification required? Please help answer my question. Thank you. |

If you want to modify an auto tranny to adapt to a manual transmission, then yes it would have to be modified - due to the differing transmission connectors. |
Hi,
Are you saying the connectors on the harness differ between an auto and manual setup in term of sensors? but then you're saying the connector that connects to the ECU is identical, regardless if it's an automatic or manual engine harness, correct? So for example if I have an automatic engine (with an automatic engine harness lets say), and if I were to connect a manual ECU it would fit the connector on that harness? Sorry for asking so many questions. i just need some clarification that's all. Thanx |

Yes, the ecu connector is identical. Yes, the manual ecu would fit fine with the auto harness, but you wouldn't have the appropriate connectors to plug the auto harness into the manual tranny. |
Gotcha. Thank you for your help, much appreciated!
