New Car New Issues
 

Hello all, my name is Keith and I Just picked up a 94 TT yesterday. Car is mostly stock. 140k. Rebuilt at 93k.
Today (day after i get it) I get the Master Warning light. I check it.. "Check Engine" light flashes 1x then 4x so im guessing code 14 {Ignition signal}. What does this mean?
Also the "O/D off" light flashes 8x then flashes 9x. I dont know what that means if anything.
The car ran fine during test drive and the 1 1/2 hr drive home. No issues whatsoever.
Im new to the Supra so any help will be appreciated.

• Open or short in IGF circuit from igniter to ECM
• Igniter (problem)
• ECM (problem)

Most likely it's the first or second possibility. If you know of someone else with an Mkiv TT, try swapping out with his/her ignitor.

Ok, so basically i should invest in the supra repair manual and trouble shoot this thing. Hopefully its just a bad Igniter.
Do you know what the flashing O/D light means? Perhaps its just telling me that the car is in "Test Mode"?

Ok so i start the car today after jostling a few wires around now its giving me codes 25, 26 and still 14.
25 is lean
26 is rich
What the hell is going on with this car??
Could the new codes be due to the possible faulty igniter?

The plot thickens.. I pulled the plugs, they are all pretty bad. The strange thing was the first 4 plugs were Bosch Platinum FR7DP. The last 2 were Denso PK20R11.. Why? Why would the last 2 be different? Are they a hotter burning plug?

If the a/f is very lean, the spark may not ignite consistently. However, when the spark doesn't ignite, the exhaust is very rich (because no fuel was burned). Makes sense?
The plugs should not be different. Go with oem platinum plugs, or NGK 6097s.

Actually a new ignitor is over $400USD. Your least pricey option to correct is faulty wiring.
