How on earth do you retrieve diagnotics codes on 1994 JDM Surpa?

Hi All,

I got a 94 supra Twinturbo and would like to know how to retreive diagnostic codes from the ECU, I don't see an engine light indicator, however, there is some Triangle looking shape light. I tried jumping TE1 and E1 (if I remember correctly), but did not see any light flashing. I believe the code retrieval on JDM suppra might be different, if any one knows how, please share it with me and if you have a description of the fault codes, please share it with me.

Thank you for your time.

Rafi

Hi Rafi,

This may help:

figured out the issue

I found where the engine light is located and noticed it does not turn on nor the oil light comes one when you open the ignition, I took that part of the circuit apart and noticed the solder on the connect pins were cracked, so resoldered them and was able to read the codes and I was getting code 42 which is vehicle speed sensor, so I guess I need to replace it.

Cheers,

Rafi

Thank you for posting back here and keeping us updated. Excellent work on your troubleshooting of why you weren't getting any diagnostic codes. :bigthumb:

Regarding your speed sensor, note that the signal actually goes through the odometer. It's possible the odometer panel circuit solder joints need to be re-flowed as well.
