The Forum Wars: Season 2

Talk is cheap if you can’t bring it behind the wheel. You’ve seen the episodes of The Forum Wars presented by Royal Purple, and you’ve thought, “I could do better than that!” Here’s your chance, as recruiting is set to begin for The Forum Wars Season 2.

Would you like to represent Toyota Supra Forums on the track in your Supra? Are you willing and able to competitively run a ? mile drag race, autocross style road course and a 0-100-0 competition against an NSX from NSXPrime? We want you to compete on The Forum Wars Season 2 that will be filmed in Houston, Texas at the Royal Purple Raceway the weekend of Jan. 8, 2011.

Racers and fans of the inaugural season of The Forum Wars will experience better competition as the new season will include:

· ? mile NHRA drag strip
· Improved road course design
· 0-100-0 racing
· Cars and drivers nominated and approved by the forums
· Additional track time for the drivers
· More evenly matched vehicles with similar mods and tires

This season’s eight (8) episode series will be promoted on national television, SPEED, and posted and promoted all over the internet. To sweeten the deal, prizes will be awarded to participants from Royal Purple, Magnaflow Exhaust, Eibach Springs, Mothers Polish and more.

If you want to represent your forum on The Forum Wars Season 2, please reply to this post. Or, if you would like to nominate another member, you can submit his or her name.

We are looking forward to an improved and incredible season with a great day of competition and fun at the track! Don’t wait to nominate! Nominations will close December 20th.

Sounds like an interesting competition.

From a pure Mkiv Supra Turbo enthusiast perspective, I can't help but note that autocross is about the only venue where our car will be significantly disadvanataged, due to our relatively heavy chassis (as well as the time it takes for larger aftermarket turbos to spool up). Autocross very much favors smaller, lighter n/a cars (ideally with larger displacement). They probably avoided true roadracing due to the cost of reserving a true roadracing track, I'd guess (i.e. not to intentionally disadvantage the Mkiv Supra Turbo). In theory, an autocross-specific Mkiv Supra Turbo could be built, but it would be $$$$$ - you'd need a widebody Mkiv with 13.5" 335+ width rubber...preferrably all around, aftermarket sequential twins*, and a nitrous squirt (progressive controller) out of every corner...to quickly spool up the larger-than-oem sequential twins. Spraying nitrous at lower rpms is very risky, so tuning, redundant nitrous control systems, and stuck-solenoid detect electronics would be critical. If the nitrous control were precise enough, perhaps a part-throttle carefully metered spray could even be considered (normally considered 'taboo').

...enough rambling. Again, seems like a very cool, interesting event with a lot of entertainment potential!

*An aftermarket squential twin kit isn't readily available, so this would likely be custom. Again, very pricey.

We are by no means trying to penalize any particular vehicles. In season one we designed a course using part of an oval. It was a hybrid that allowed the cars to open up a bit more than a typical autocross track. We are hoping to accomplish the same thing this round as well. We have not heard back from any volunteers yet. Do you have any suggestions of people that live in or around Texas that you think might be interested? Thanks!

Which part of Texas?
Dallas? Houston? San Antonio? Austin?
