Blue Smoke....

Every morning i start up my car and blue smoke shoots out of the exaust then stops. Some people told me thats it could be the turbo seals others told me it could be the valve seals. Any engine tests i could get done on my engine to confirm the problem?

Unfortunately there is no test other then to take your exhaust off and see if there is oil in the turbo... the exhaust side is where both of my ct26 seals blew out. but it could possibly be the compressor side... you are talkin about a 7m right?

Could also be valve seals. I just got done replacing mine on my jz. They were rock hard and one had fallen apart. You can see if the exhaust side is leaking by pulling off the manifold and lookin at the valves. If they are bad they will have oil seeping. Valve seals can be replaced with the head on!

Sorry I should of read what section this was in. The ct12b on the 2j are good quality turbos. The valve seals that were used for some reason have a high failure rate... I used felpro seals as a replacement cuz they are made of a Viton rubber which is very durable..

Here is a good how to....

Ps. Get the valve spring tool it is worth the money.. I used long long nose needle noses to pull old seals out and it worked good! But get the valve keeper tool!

Here's what I consider to be an even better Valve Stem Seal article:

...however I am a bit biased. ;) Read the article and you'll see why.
