2JZ-GTE with Manual tranny
vdOk so, I am looking into buying a 2JZ-GTE for a MKIV supra and was wondering what the major difference would be if I used a 5speed versus 6speed tranny. Such as cost, difficulty etc. Also, is it possible to take the 5speed manual from a 1jz and use it on a 2jz? The supra is automatic right now and I have looked into swapping, but most of the stuff I find is for 6speeds.
Also, what if I went with a 1JZ-GTE with the 5speed instead of the 2JZ for now. How hard would it be to put that into a MKIV? Last edited by mentallydead21; 05-14-2011 at 10:41 PM. |

Please don't put a 1jz into an Mkiv. You might as well buy an n/a and stick with a 2jz-ge.

Ok, so 2jz-gte it is. As for the 5speed, it is only temporary. I am going to Afghan soon and just wanted to get it up and running for the time being. I will put a 6speed in it once I get back. What are the power limitations for the 5speed? How far can it be pushed without destroying it?

Are you asking me, or mentallydead21? Please note that this thread is about answering mentallydead21's Mkiv's 5speed versus 6speed tranny questions, and anything else directly related to that topic. If you'd like to start a new thread about another topic, please do so. Alternatively, please feel free to send me a message or an email if your question was directed towards me. Although I'm curious why you asked that question either way, let's save that for the appropriate place (either a new thread or email)...
