Why does my Supra overheats!
I have a 94 Supra Turbo and my car seems to overheat so quickly. The coolant/water gauge (not sure what you call it) pointer is steady at midpoint up until 30-45 minutes of driving. All of a sudden it creeps up to max (hot) and you can tell that it is accurate because the engine bay is so hot as I open up the hood. There are no coolant leak. There seems to be excess coolant in the reservoir but that's about it. Please help! What else could it be?

I a problem similar on an eclipse. It turned out that the thermostat got stuck. Could be the same thing, but could not be, I've never worked on a 2JZ before.

make sure your coolant levels are topped off...if they are then check to see if the radiator is leaking, maybe bhg but somehow i kind of doubt it, maybe your water pump is not working...or your oil levels are low...just makin some assumptions right now

whitetiger, you say thermostat, but if that's the issue..it will overheat in around 5 minutes because the hot coolent just stays in the engine, and supraman you say water pump..i could be, im not sure how quickly those will over heat the engine but usually if they fail, coolant steams like a mofo

It turns out that one of the motor of my dual electric fan gave out, so I bought an entirely brand new Flex Lite fan and an aftermarket radiator (Koyo) with new red Toyota coolant and now the car seems to be running great. NO more overheating! Knock on wood!
