I have just gotten my car running at a point that I might feel comfortable with trying more, however i have heard that the oem turbos on supras are not effeicent past 18 PSI. Weather or not that is true I do not know.

Note that 18psi is too much boost for your engine, if you're using 93 octane pump gas. Keep it 16psi or less unless running some race fuel. In general, the oem twins are fine with the occasional boost up to 20psi or even 22psi. It's your engine that can't handle that much boost on pump gas. Detonation will not only destroy the 'mighty' 2jz-gte in oem form, it will also easily blast through even the most expensive aftermarket internals...

Of course, 20psi on race fuel will be proportionally harder on the oem twins than 11.5psi, but unless you've got your accelerator pedal on the floor for a half minute or more (eg. an extended high speed run), the oem twins generally handle greater-than-oem boost levels quite well. In fact, I've heard of the oem twins putting out as much as 30psi on a brief drag-strip pass (with LOTS of supporting modifications). I'm not saying they'll last forever at 20psi, but I'm also saying you probably don't need to worry about any sort of immediate turbo failure "past 18psi" on race fuel.

Regarding HKS adjustable cam gears, start with them set to -3 on the exhaust side, and +1 on the intake side. If you want to fine-tune/tweak them beyond that base setting, you'll need to put your car on a dyno. Move them 1 or 2 degrees in each direction, and keep doing pulls until your Supra makes the most power. After that, do a few 1/4 mile passes and try each gear 1 degree in each direction on each pass. If your driving is sufficiently consisent, your fastest 1/4 mile time will represent the best cam gear settings for your Supra's current configuration.

Right now, I have a blitz dd bov- an original plug and play bov. It is not a very good blow off valve.-i do not like it. is there any recommendations?? do you know any of the spec on the greddy type s??

What don't you like about the blitz dd? It responds very quickly, from what I understand.

If you're interested in alternatives, what about the HKS SS? It's available with a full kit, including a recirculation fitting.

Although the GReddy Type-S is a decent bov, I'm sure you won't find it any better nor significantly different from the Blitz DD...

It seems that I have not severe turbo lag, but a decent amount, and at a WOT shift it does not recover the boost quickly at all, it is almost like having to respool. I took off the bov and looked at how the bov was set up, and the hole for the bov goes from a quarter size hole to a dime sixe at the piping connecting to the flange. It also seems to have trouble with holding 16 lbs of press. even though it is made for up to 18??

I believe the Blitz bov has an adjustment...have you tried tightening it up? Also, I know that you can get a stiffer spring for that bov...
