Hey, Newbie here! (Soon to be a MkIV owner)

Hello all, the names Sway.
I live in South Texas and I'm only 20 years young =P
I'm currently in the market for a turbo MkIV, I'm going
in today to see what kind of loans I can get. I've been
an admirer of the MkIV since before I was even interested
in cars. I currently drive a 2000 Honda Prelude, and I love
it! But granted, the Supra is a new league entirely. In both
looks, and performance.

Basically I'm just introducing myself, I plan on sticking around
and learning as much about the car as I can before I buy her, so I can
treat her right! So don't worry, no Wings bigger than the car, unpainted
badly done body kits, ect ect. Maybe a nice front lip with a slight drop =)

I've already done a lot of searching on "What to look for when buying
a Supra" threads, lots of great info guys (and girls?) Thanks!
But is 94,XXX miles too much to buying a Supra? Also, the main
Supra I am looking at, has a "PowerHouse Racing-Garrett hybrid
60mm single turbo" What can you all tell me about that turbo?
Any and all Information is very appreciated, I'm a Turbo super-n00b =(
Some of the other mods it has are as follows:
- K&N filter on PHR bent mandrel intake.
- PHR fuel pulsation dampener bypass.
- HKS EVC (boost controller)
- Apexi Super AFC
- HKS Type 1 turbo timer
- PHR downpipe
- Greddy intercooler
- HKS Super Suquential Blow off Valve
- GReddy boost gauge.

How does that setup sound? Strong? Reliable?

And as far as rims, do 18x9 for the front, and 18x10 in the rear fit nicely?

And for a last question, Any opinions on the sound of a Apexi GT Spec Exhaust?

Thanks for reading! I hope to join the Toyota family asap!
And for all who answer my questions, thanks in advance!

And just for the hell of it,
A pic I took of my current car.

EDIT: Loan's approved but payments are high. Gonna keep shopping.

Not if it's been well-maintained.

It's pretty small. It'll probably only do about 550rwhp max, even on race fuel and high boost. This figure will be even lower if it's an auto (vs. 6spd).

Depends what you mean by strong. Again, if it's a 6spd, you're looking at about 550rwhp max on race fuel and high boost. Even if the turbo could do more than that, the oem fuel system (even with fpdb) can't safely exceed that figure.

If the installs were all done properly, then yes.

It's an okay combination, but it really blows my mind why people use this combo. The oem rims are 8" front and 9.5" rear - the rims on that Supra increased the front rim width (from oem size) by 1", but only increased the back rim's width (from oem size) by 1/2". This is total insanity when you consider that the REAR WHEEL DRIVE car's horsepower has been increased by about 66%!!! Again, that rim combo is okay, but really not optimal.

If you really want my honest opinion, you should be worrying about how well the car was maintained and how well it performs, and not how it sounds. Just mho...

Good luck with the purchase, thanks for posting, and please keep us informed!

Hey, thanks for the info. Glad someone replied!

Yes, I am worried about performance/how it was main tained more
than anything else of course. I was just curious on how it would sound
as well... I'm not looking for amazing power atm, 5-600rwhp as this supra
might possibly be daily driven for a while, if I have to get rid of the lude
to afford it.

As for that Supra, No replies from the owner... only been about 4 days
though. But I'm still shopping. Realistically, I won't be ready for purchase
for 3 to 4 months... But hey, I'm picky, it'll probably take me that long
to find the one I want.

Oh, and I would never buy an auto... =P
