Hey jza80 Supra C-I TT, I dont watch CNN either and CNN wont tell you how hard it is to ship a Supra in from Japan. Also, of course that RHD civic looked like shit, regardless if it was badly taken care of its a civic....... It doesnt seem like youve done if any research on importing a Supra. Yea, it might be expensive but it can be done. Also consider Supras from japan can be newer since they didnt stop making them in 98' but also they are much cheaper in Japan then in the US. Hell, i see US Supras going for $60,000.00. You can get a mad nice Japanese Supra for a hell of a lot less then $60K but you do have to pay for shipping and crap. And i dont care who you are (nothing personal to you) but any RHD car in the states is cool as hell. How often do you see that???
I want to get a Supra and make it different from all other cars. RHD Supra TT in stick, although some might say its tacky i want scissor doors on mine cause i saw a Supra with that once and it looked sweet. Those are a few among many things... As for now, i drive my lifted Dodge Dakota quad cab like a Supra just because i havn't rolled over yet! |

If any of you are interested in importing....Consider incorporating yourself and Hiring a lawyer because customs has been known to hold cars indefintely as well as even destroy some that they feel will not be properly converted....as well one of the main reasons that cars from Japan are such a pain to import is most (Skyline for example) lack many saftey precautions that US cars have...Reinforced doors, cat converter, etc...
I have a friend that i work with who is in the process of setting up an import company....ill try and get more detail about the importation process....a good site to look at for Jap cars for import www.Japan-Partner.com And a bidding site www.japaneseauctions.co.uk try em out they have bids on Supra from around 1000$ USD But when i get more importation details, ill post

Supra production stopped in '98 world wide. It's NOT worth trying to import a Supra because it's the same car, and will cost more, plus you have no idea what it drives like.
Skyline, the rare AWD Turbo Celica's, the different spec RX-7's, maybe, but the only thing that is different on the supras is the hood had a scoop, and it was right hand drive...not worth the added effort and money, and laws are local, you might be able to register it in one county, but not another. Now getting JDM parts, go for it, as they have certain things that are killer, like catalytic converters that are as good as off-road pipes, but will pass a sniffer test, or the variable exhaust where a valve opens up at speed so the engine can breath, but it's not overly loud. |

Supras in Japan continued till 2002. In the UK Supras were available between 1993-1996. MkIV Supras in the UK and Japan had two catalytic converters and i`ll think you`ll find that they will pass your emission laws. UK Supras would be worth the hassle of importing as they have larger brakes, 4 pot calipers, steel internal turbos instead of ceramic, plus other bits and bobs that are different and better, oh, and they also kick out 326bhp as standard.
6 Speed manuals in the UK start at ?8000 GBP. If you want to see late model and smart Supras for sale do this: www.google.co.uk Pick language tools Pick to translate a website from japanese to English Put the website www.yahoo.co.jp into the translate box Pick auctions Pick automobile Pick body Pick Toyota and work your way through the models as Supra doesn`t translate into English Enjoy! |
