Recived 88 SUpra as gift
My grandfather purchased the 88 Supra turbo automatic. Brand new, at about 150k it blew a turbo seal and the engine seized. The engine was replaced with a Japanese 7M-GTE with 35k on it. With in 3k he said it stopped running (I found out later it ran out of gas and the sensor was just bad). It sat in his garage collecting dust for 10+ years, and he finally just gave it to me.
Besides replacing all of the liquids, what should I look at before I get it up and running? The Radiator light and the brake light are both on. Thanks, Chris |

and the radiator, ranges from a few fixes 1) top off the reservoir 2) fill the radiator up and bleed the whole system, as there might be trapped air in the system, 3) it could be the sensor on the reservoir, it could have went bad, giving wrong readings getting a car started from 10 yrs ago, i guess an oil change is in order, fuel filter, clean out the gas tank as some gunk could have built up in the bottom of it as with the lines too, hopefully it hasnt fuel, air and spark, thats what you basically need to start the car good luck with your gift, i bet it still is in mint condition since it hasnt been abused all these years

make sure you prime the engine really good since its been sitting for around 10+ years, so the motor is lubricated well because its probably bone dry

Thanks guys, I have noticed that I have a drain on my battery. Is their a common short on the 88? I will be doing the light test abd pulling the fueses to see what is causing the short, but if their is a common short I will try that one first.

congrats on the gift!
Do you think you post some pictures so we can get a look of the cosmetic conditions its in. 10 years of being garaged, it has to be in great shape. |
