Default I need help. is it fuel or electrical?

Brought the 1987 non-turbo to the Toyo. dealer because the engine will not rev pst 3500 rpm. Stops at the exact same spot every time. Kinda like it would with a governor.

So dealer told me to replace the plugs and wires...rotor and cap. I just did that. Idles really nice now...but same problem. Runs great all the way up there..but then stops...

Can someone help me? Ever occur to anyone out there before?

cheers
Nigel

If it were mine, and I thought the fuel filter had not been changed in a long time, I would change that now.

I'd also check the linkage to the throttle body. It may be damaged or way misadjusted. If the throttle body opens completely, I'd suspect fuel problems.

Default Thanks

Thanks for your input! I am going to start with the throttle linkage, then change the fuel filter. Hopefully this clears up the mess.

regards
Nigel

Default I Sorta had that problem

my 7m n/a idled smooth, and i could rev it high, but it had this little thing that at if i were to hold it anywhere from 2000-2500 the rpm would drop to 1200, I had changed everything on the car except the fuel filter. i ordered it and replaced it. the problem went away. and idles way way smoother!
