Instant Power Loss
Hey Everyone,
Just wondering if anyone has any ideas about what went wrong with my 1985 Supra. I started out from a stop and halfway through 1st gear the instantly lost half (or more) of the power, and started sputtering like it was not firing on all cylinders. It still runs, but is very sluggish. Any suggestions? |

Start with the basics. Pull a couple of spark plugs, and check the condition. If OK, then check ignition base timing. If it jumped, you may want to pull the front upper timing cover off, and check the valve timing. Do this by rotating the crankshaft to TDC, and see if the marks on the cam shaft line up with the timing marks on the case. You may have to rotate the crankshaft twice to get the marks pointed up. If the timing belt jumped a tooth, don't get cheap. Replace the belt.
