Transmission Fluid capacity
Just to make sure I have a 88 non turbo with the w58. I changed the fluid in it to day, what came out was less than a liter. What the Haynes manual says is 2.5 quarts is this right amount is this right? I put that much back in there so I hope I did not over fill it thats why I am asking. Other question is I had the car in 3rd on some ramps to help hold it up can the car be in any gear to get all the fluid out? Or does it have to be in neutral? And my last question is I put it through the shifter hole everyone says it is easier so I did, but I broke off one of the bolts holding the shifter in it is bad with just 3 bolts? And is there a torque spec because it was no strength at all to bust off. And can I buy these bolts any where for the one I broke off? What is the size and thread if any one knows?

yes 2.5 quarts is right for the w58. you should also change the differential as well. uses the same gear oil unless you have an LSD type you can get the addative to add to the gear oil. Yes you can do it throught the shift boot hole. I too had to get new bolt that you can get at home depot. hex bolts are what i got.

Thanks for the information. I had a feeling, but wanted to check also. Sometimes the haynes manuals are not always right.
