ECT Transmission?

Ok, i know a decent amount about supra's but i still have not figured out if there is an actual difference if the ect is on or off, it seems like its slighty quicker on the acceleration but i cant tell for sure, can someone plz tell me what the stupid button actually does? thx:stupid:

leave it off... from stand still take off..put pedel to floor and watch were tach shifts at...

turn on... repeat step 1...

:}

SupraSean 10-07-2008 04:13 PM

so basically all it does is hold it in gear longer?

Supra Greg 10-07-2008 08:15 PM

far as i can tell... with it off it shifts lot quicker and smoother ... i leave it ON :} mine shifts around 5700.... with it on... forgot what it does with it off... somthing like 5000 i think

SupraSean 10-08-2008 02:31 PM

wow thats weird, mine shifts around anywhere from6500 to 7000, which the rev limiter stops at like 7100 rpms, why do you think there different?

suprra_girl 10-10-2008 11:13 PM

I noticed the same thing with mine, it's the transmission starting to fubar :)

Moved to general

Supra Greg 10-11-2008 12:40 AM

suprra_girl 10-11-2008 03:20 AM

Yours, just getting a little worn is all

Supra Greg 10-11-2008 04:07 AM

Now i am talking about leaving in drive... not holding down in 1st....

suprra_girl 10-11-2008 05:09 AM

Yes, if you are throttling in D and it does not change before 5500rpm it is starting to wear.

and your rev limiter on your 7mgte/7mge will be at a max of 6750 on the 6M crank which revs higher than the 7M crank unless of course you have an aftermarket ecu to which you have adjustable rpm limiter.
