Default Electrics Problem

HELLO......hope someone can help.

I have a 1995 Supra na. A year or two ago the alternator was replaced. Odo reads 128,000mi.

Currently, what is happening is this. on the left side of the dash the water symbol idiot light comes on. At the same time the big red exclamation point comes on in the middle of the dash and two lights, on the rights side, brake bulb light? and battery light come on. So altogether there are four lights coming on in the dash.

After driving for a few miles the headlights dim and I lose engine power. I am able to idle along for awhile but eventually everything just dies and I end up having to charge the battery or jump it in order to start the car.

Could this be another bad alternator? This one only has about 10-15k miles on it.

Could be an alternator problem, you should have it tested... However is the best new on the belt? did you torque it right? if you rev the engine can you hear the belt squeal?

Sounds like a bad alternator. When mine went bad, battery light and brake light both came on. Radiator light means the coolant reservoir is low. double check it. Check the alternator by putting a volt meter to the battery terminals. If you don't get 13.5 to 14.5 volts, alternator is probably bad. Have it tested.

hey thank you both,

i will test the tension on the belt for slippage and put a voltmeter on the battery. i had already checked the radiator coolant level and that was fine..........that is what led me to think there may be some other issue here, perhaps some sort of safety shutdown switch?
