water leak
l have bought a 1987 supro turbo. we are restoring it but l live where it rains a lot. the hatch leaks water into the trunk . l sealed the tail lights with silicone at the top where it was running in. but l am not satisfied with this fix. any ideas to do it so it will drain instead of collecting at the top . this was someone elses project with low milage 90 000 miles . he also changed the shocks to a high quaulity monroe. is there some inherent problem with tens units. one of the older guys l know who did rally racing said they could get some unusual problems.

The seal around the hatch window have a tendency to dry out. If you don't replace the seals the hatch will continue to leak into the trunk/spare tire area.

water leak
thanks , but its not leaking around the glass . it leaks around the tail lights. l have been told that happens a lot on 87 supras hatch. not to much dries out here l live in the mountains and its a rain forrest lol.

Toyota sells the taillight gaskets so you can replace them. If you have a spoiler you'll want to replace the seals on it as well as where the wiper arm comes out on the hatch. Water can enter any or all of those places in addition to the hatch seal and the taillights.
