Default So lost.......

I have a 88 turbo, with a fully rebuilt motor under the hood. Had it on the road for about a week and i think my rad is done. The Low Coolent light comes on for the first 10mins im driving then goes away.....Even though my coolent is fully topped up. And its not a.... *whispers* BHG. It passed the test it still has full power and none of that dreaded white smoke, and the engine purrrrs beautifully. It has over heated on me once after 2 or 3 soild pulls. Does this sound like the radiator is doneskiys to anyone eles?

The low coolant light is for the overflow tank. When you say you've topped off your radiator, are you making sure the level in the overflow tank is ok as well?

In regards to overheating, check your fan and fan clutch. If the fan clutch is weak or shot the fan won't pull like it's supposed to. That can be an issue in stop-&-go traffic, low speed w/ the a/c on, etc. rather than it is when running at speed.

Your radiator could be gummed up. You can run some flush through the system, or pull it and have a shop do a good cleaning on it if you've got some doubts about it and don't want to fool with trying to clean it yourself.

Taking her into the shop tomorrow for a full cooling system service. I dont want to fiddle around anymore and risk doing more harm then good to my baby haha. And yes i checked the over-flow bottle and the levels where good but dirty. So a good servicing and i should *crosses fingers* be good to go! Just spent over $3500 making her run again.....hate to see all that go to waste
